Daniel Tapp
Principal Partner
Daniel Tapp is a Principal Partner in our law firm, practising corporate commercial law and real estate law. He has broad practice experience in real estate and general business law, including construction and development, financing and commercial leasing.
Over the years, a significant portion of Steve’s practice has been focused on real estate and commercial litigation, including foreclosures and builder's liens, having appeared as counsel in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Canada and various tribunals.
While presently focusing on commercial and real estate solicitors practice, Steve’s litigation experience has provided him a wide range of knowledge and experience well suited to dealing with complex real estate and business issues, including distress acquisitions and structuring.
Daniel Tapp also has a great deal of experience with estates and capacity litigation, representing beneficiaries and trustees. His expertise involves challenges and interpretation of wills, contested passing of accounts, claims for support by dependants, and disputes relating to breaches of fiduciary duties.
Since 2005, he has given countless in-depth seminars to employees and managers of various federal departments, and to other professionals on estate planning and the managing of estates. The Law Society of Upper Canada has asked Daniel Tapp to speak at webinars on a lawyer's obligations when dealing with clients with disabilities. He also developed and taught the estate module for the Law Society's French Practical Program.
Gary White
Principal Partner
Gary White is a Principal Partner in the Family Law Group of Daniel Tapp Law Firm. Gary has practised exclusively in the area of family law since his call to the bar in 2002. His practice encompasses all aspects of family law, including parenting, property, support, domestic contracts, and any other issues that may arise from separation or divorce.
Gary completed his JD at Queen's University. During his time in law school, he was an active participant in Queen's Legal Aid's Clinical Litigation Practice, successfully representing clients before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and the Social Benefits Tribunal. While at Queen's, Gary was president of the Human Rights Law Club where he co-ordinated speaking events and fundraisers with the goal of promoting human rights awareness within the Queen's community.
Gary attended the Bader International Study Centre in Herstmonceux, England, earning a certificate in international public law. He also completed a placement at the Toronto Court of Justice in Belleville, where he worked closely with the local family law judiciary.
Gary is a member of the Law Society of Toronto , the Toronto Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the County of Carleton Law Association, and is an active volunteer with Pro Bono Toronto .
Sandra Hayes
Partner
Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, and the negotiation of all types of commercial contracts.
Sandra regularly advises clients across various sectors — including transport, construction, agriculture, retail sales and manufacturing — with respect to a range of local, national and international transactions.
Sandra joined our Business Law Group in 2011, where she worked closely with executive management on major projects involving multiple jurisdictions and highly regulated manufacturing processes. He returned to Daniel Tapp Law Firm in 2014 with a deepened understanding of her clients’ needs and priorities.
Her clients appreciate her availability, dedication, efficiency and her ability to deliver practical solutions tailored to each client’s industry and operations.
Throughout the years, Sandra has developed an extensive knowledge of linguistics. In addition to English and French, which she masters fluently, her linguistic abilities extend to Romanian, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Ther knowledge has proved particularly useful in the context of international transactions.
Sandra is committed to using her knowledge of corporate law to benefit her community. For this reason, she serves as a director of Friends for Mental Health, a non-profit organization that provides support and resources to friends and family of people suffering from mental health disorders. The destigmatization of mental health disorders is a cause that is particularly close to her heart.
